Halloween

You'll be happy to know that I did indeed get everyone's costumes finished in time.
It did mean a very late Thursday night, but everyone was set to go to work and school bright and early on Friday morning!

And I was even a good wife and got up at 4:45 to help Aaron get his costume all set for work.
It was worth it, he looked awesome!

We wrangled all the kids into one big theme again this year.

Last time we talked them into that was three years ago when we did The Incredibles:

We thought the convincing of the older kids was well behind us at this point, so we were pleasantly surprised that they all agreed to play along and humor Mom and Dad.

This year, we were Pirates.

(BIG thanks to our awesome friends for allowing us to do some photos at their house that is all decked out to look like a pirate ship!  It is amazing!)

The Captain himself:
with Mama Pirate:

And the kids:
Is it bad to call your oldest daughter a wench?  If not, the young pirate wench:
If so, just the pirate girl.
(enjoying borrowing my boots and corset WAY too much)

Young Jack:

Elizabeth Swan:

And the rest of the motley crew:

Of course, no pirate is complete without a parrot....

Aww.....isn't that just stinkin' cute?!

Everyone had all sorts of fun with their costumes!

We had a wonderful Halloween weekend, and especially enjoyed the rain subsiding for a couple of hours to allow the kids a much more pleasant trick-or-treating experience.

I am super proud of myself for not eating a ridiculous amount of their candy this year.  The oldest boys went out the longest and brought home a haul that was very impressive!  At one point Taylor actually had to get a sack from one of the neighbors because his bag was overflowing.  That's my boy! ha!

Stay tuned for pics from our Costume party-there were some great ones this year!

Do pirates run on treadmills?

It was a lot of fun Catey....thanks for making it happen!

I think from now on I will refer to running on the treadmill as "walking the plank"!

You guys look fantastic as you always do for Halloween! You were all great, but the parrot's my favorite! Did you make that costume too? It's AWESOME!

Yep, made the parrot costume. :)

Did you have a pattern or did you wing it? (Lol) I'd love to know how you did it.

"wing it" lol! :P

I found some online to look at and made it up from there. Is it a bad sign that I do most of my sewing that way? ;) One piece hooded fleece suit and some felt, and it turned out cuter than I could have hoped!

Wow! brilliant... absolutely NOT a bad sign! My hat is seriously off to you. It is just incredible.
